Default Focus ST-3 Fuel Economy

Hi all, I'm looking at swapping my Escort Cosworth with a Focus ST3 due to me doing more miles now and was wondering what the fuel economy is like, from people who actually drive them. Looking around the average MPG is around 30 but have been told that this is incorrect. So what do people on here get using them everyday?

Cheers
Dave

A couple of lads where I work have ST2 and ST3's - they all say the economy is dire and they report back low 20's to mid 20's on a good day

I swapped my escort cossie for an ST-3 2 years ago.

I get 30 mpg on a run and around 25-28 around town and I dont drive like a girl...

If you want economy by a diesel.

IMO its a good daily driver. If you are used to cossie fuel consumption, you will like the ST...LOL

Hi I drive a 2007 st-2 as a daily driver and get minimum of 30mpg,
when on run I can squeeze 33mpg,when I rag the shit out of it I only get low 20's.
Hope this helps!

Well I roughly worked out the Escort to be 18mpg so late 20's early 30's is a bit better. Plus it saves me ruining a classic car.

if you go closed loop (MSD) you can easily see 30mpg depending on what sort of driving you are doing, but i totally appreciate why you wouldnt want to ruin a cossie by using it everyday, with stonechips roadsalt and parking dings

I averaged around 26-28mpgs when I had my ST2, as soon as I got my dreamscience unit, it went down to 22mpgs, my work run is 3 miles so prob not the best, but never saw much better doing other driving. Lowest was 9 mpg when on a spirited run to Exeter.

I phoned MSD when I first got the car and they reckon with it only being stage one, it should be running closed loop as standard anyway.

Thanks to everyone with their input it's much appreciated. I'll see what the lad says about doing the deal and see where I go from there.

Cheers
