I'm about to do one using my old XR3i seat Found it lurking in the shed and it's in good nick so I took the subframe off it and plonked it in my room to sit in to play GT3 Then realised it is a really comfortable seat, only problem is it is too low, as it is sitting on the floor.... So, gonna nick an old office chair from work (just your normal height/tilt adjust computer type chair, worth about a fiver) and take the base off it.... To bolt em together looks piss easy.

The car seat has 4 10mm tapped holes in the bottom for the subframe to bolt to. Get a decent square (the right size, plywood is best for strength) and drill 100mm holes in the same pattern as the car seat base. Then just bolt wodden square to underside of seat using 10mm bolts.

To attach the office chair base unit, you need to mark where the mounting holes need to be on the wooden square (now on the underside of your car seat), drill em, then bolt office base unit to wooden square like so;

Post a pic of the underside mate, so we can see how you mounted the swivel base to the underside of the Recaro

Made mine piece of piss

The actual recaro itself is a 90 spec item was brought off rsoc bb (was before passionford exsisted) fir 45 quid...

went ot B+Q and got a 10mm thick bit of MDF for about a fiver!..

then went to Staples and got a kiddy chair (quite small) and use the legs...

Assembled the legs with the middle stalk and the plate on top of the stalk.....cut the MDF so i would have a sqaure piece of it on the top of the stalk!

Then drilled holes in the MDF so it actually would become part of the seat then make sure everything was drilled properly...undone the nuts/bolt and turn the recaro upside down and drilled holes so the recaro would become attached to the MDF..sorted that all out bolted it all together and Volia..........my 58 pound mega comfy PC chair

Made my own from a 90 spec recaro - just used some metal plates to bolt the base to then used the standard 10mm bolts to bolt to the chair - easy!

Just finished mine But mines an XR seat not an RS one

I used 10mm MDF, as it was all I had to hand, and I ain't sure it's gonna be strong enough (flexes quite a lot) so either gonna replace it with a bit of 10/12mm plywood (stronger) or do as Matt said and mod the runners.....

Only problem with the seat is it is a little high - ie: my feet don't touch the ground But that ain't cos I'm small - I'm 6'2" it's about 4-5" taller than my leather PC/office chair, but it's for my room to play playstion on anyway

had to take mine apart again It was just too high (me feet never touched the floor) and whilst it felt comfortable, after an hour or so in it the backs of my thighs were killing me.... Since I couldn't get it to go any lower I just took it apart and made a little box for it to sit on so it sits 3-4" off the ground. Now it just sits in me room and I sit in it when watching a film or caining the PS2.....

Oh well...... Was a fun project anyway lol

Feck off! That was sturdy as houses! Simple, solid construction there.... Just the base I used was a tad high...

Never mind tho, made me a little box unit for it to sit on (again, nicely bolted up and all is sturdy) for it to sit on to raise it off floor level and been sat in it most of the evening playing GT3 Muchos comfortable

I hardly ever take the piss on here like that (go search nowt like that really for years) but theres countless times when other people have a good try at mercilessly taking the piss out of me, so dont gimme that
And they usualy almost total strangers who like that with me on here (which is a proper twattish forum warrior thing to do that pisses me right off), Thrush n Smit arnt just random strangers to me, they know im not being nasty

It was important enough to you that it was a Recaro to the point you titled the thread 'Recaro Office Chair'
