i reckon it's properly Berwick but to most people that use it (i.e people that live there) probably say Berrick for speed and sheer laziness!

Ber-rick, as in Warwick (War-rick) - it ain't WAR-WICK-SHIRE is it?

English is such a stoopid language, Americans changed it for the better if you ask me.....

UK = Colour / US = Color - it ain't COL-OUR is it
UK = Catalogue / US = Catalog - it ain't CAT-A-LO-GUE is it

etc, etc.... Using Z's - specialized, colourized, instead of specialised, colourised (phonetically thats COL-OUR-I-SAID )
