The car was declared in Cat B in 2006, it should have been scrapped then. It was running around registered as a Si on a R plate, it's now back onto its original plate but cannot see the road again due to this.

Yeah the car was registered as scrap by the dvla in 2006 and they found out the car was still on the road a few months ago with dodgy plates ID etc.

They then took the car off the road and put it back onto its original registration number which is down as Cat B.

Yeah it was forsale then on the Si ID, whoever was selling it or whoever they sold it to got caught running on the dodgy ID.

I'm not to fussed about making it a big turbo, less lag and I'm not aiming for big bhp.

if the car has been wrote off then sold complete to a mush who has repaired it and chucked it on a dodgy id and then its been tugged and seen to be a cat b that shouldn't be back on the road you get to where we are now.
the car is worth loads in parts so its not a bad buy.

it a good buy for a track toy , everybody will be giving you respect belting round hot hatch day in an escort cossie

take it hes giving you a full reciept with the salvage companys name and address on it as will have either no id or the si id on it so could be a bugger to explain to the police if stopped with on a trailer going to and from track days , know what the police are like they,d just impound it first then ask questions later .

I thought with a Cat b, if you can persuade a Salvage yard to let you remove it without being registered, it's only for spares and the shell has to go back for crushing.
A destruction notice is then issued that has to be sent to DVLA.

I am deciding against the car, some of the things that the seller is telling me are not adding up.

He has said it has not been accident damaged and repaired and it is Cat B because of the ID being changed. This does not make sense as it was Cat B in 2006.

I think Im going to leave this one as the sellers story is not making sense.

fact.

not every wrote off car is damaged as in punished, some have engine fires, drive over roundabouts and damage suspension, transmissions etc, or they have been is shit water.

they get wrote off and not supposed to be put back on the road. i however know salvage dealers that are liscenced and will to mates sell them on the understanding they don't register them. the problem is its a temptation to drive them again and make a juicy fat profit on them.

the old bill will have tugged the car and digged into it and found what it really is,hence off the road it goes again. the geezer selling it is doing a naughty and if the car came from copart universal salvage he wil be banned for life for selling it complete if caught.
they have big notices in the offices telling you not to put cat b breakers on the road
