it does,nt sound rite to me , as even if he has bought it as a cat b , he should,nt be allowed to sell it on again only in bits

and an escort cossie shell is worth nothing without an id ,theres plenty out there for sale with no id

Yeah I know what you mean but the sellers story is not adding up, he's said a few things now that are making me suspicious.

I'm just going to give it a miss, I've been stung before and its starting to sound fishy.

I have now told the guy I'm not taking it and gave him valid reason. He told me a few things that were not true about the cars history and ownership.

matey i know what you mean but your very wrong if you think a escort cosworth bodyshell is worth nowt without a id, they are worth less but deffo not nothing.
you can legally sell parts off the shells like cuts,so a rear qtr or a back end for a repair.
if you go to any decent scrap yard you will see cuts on late rightoffs

Yeah I would go for it and track it but I just dont want the dvla on my back wanting the car scrapped. He is saying there is a V5 and Mot etc in the Cat B reg number. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Im going to give it a miss, I think I'll just buy a Genuine car for shows etc and track my pulsar if it doesn't sell.

one other thing that i'd like to point out.

i have been involved with salvage companys for a very long time and i know people who have bought salvage as cat d from salvage dealers and then found out its gone on a cat c and b and even a . you don't hpi your own salvage when your buying direct from insurers own salvage companys.
my mate has just bought a xr3i which is raving mint that has had a repair on the qtr and has shown up on the hpi as a cat b, its been classified wrong by the insurers, the car has a v5 and has been taxed so there you go,fuck ups can happen even with dodgy rightoffs from insurance companys.

They used to put an axe through the roof of cat b cars in the walk around auctions i used to go to a few years back to make it harder for people who were repairing & ringing them, saw a clio 16v one day with two set of axe marks in the roof, one set they had just put in and all the filler that had come out of the other set from the first time round it had been a cat b car lol

why doesn't somebody just report the twat???? he could be putting lives at risk by selling this to someone when it clearly shouldn't be on the road, he should also have his salvage licence taken away

I rang about this today and the fella says its a cat B and has a destruction order on it and has to be broke , Yet he is prepared to sell complete as a track car etc even tho he isnt supposed too

The reason it has to be broke is it was nicked and the ID was taken off it anf it was ringed with a billy basic std escort ID

No mention to me about flood damage

seems his story changes like the weather

I feel sorry for anyone who buys it tho , if they get stopped with the car without any ID it will be taken off them

the bizzies can do checks on a car with no floor number and vin tag, i have seen stolen rec cars that the dozy bast@rds have been driving round with the colour tag on the front panel still left on, it had the last part of the chassis number on so was easily id'able. theres a few places the police can id a car from also the engine number is checkable,if the donkey comes up on a dvla check it doesn't take inspector frost to work out the cars history.

totally agree with paul even tracing a q plate can be hard i know someone years ago that bought a mint q plate rs turbo paid good money for it when i say mint i mean mint.turns out it was a genuine low mileage stolen car & had a old q plate id on it the boy paid for it.Because the numbers had been tampered with & bulkhead stamped the boy took it thats how it ws on the q.He lost the car in the end he couldnt prove thats the way he bought it..

saw this the other day, was just about to make the call when i saw the cat B, if it was a D i would buy it.
saying that, i know of some salvage lads who are using cat b cars, its quite common, they let there wives family etc use them, then sell them on for peanuts too other lads in the motor trade on the strength that it is only passed on to people in the know.
i have never heard of them getting into trouble. this could be said about the escort if it had say been in a flood etc but with dodgy id i would also say its too risky
