Default Salvage

I'm probably going to look a right dumb ass asking this - but here goes ..lol

What is meant by Salvage when an insurer writes off your car and offers you an amount minus salvage.

I'm just assuming it means that's what they think you can get for it if you scrapped it or something. Is that right?

doing the same thing at the very moment
you can buy the car back from the insurance comapny for what they would get for it from the scrap man
sometimes this is a little at £30 and at others you might be looking at £150 but it all depends on the car
i can't see them giving you an escos for that little money but it's sometimes not far off

Thanks Dojj.
It's my brothers g/f car - same thing as you - someone went into the back of her. They've said they're going to deduct £70 salvage - wasn't quite sure what that meant.
