Default R Reg Vectra 2.0 Petrol - Cambelt Snapped

Brother in law's vectra has shat it's cambelt on the motorway...its an auto and he knocked it into neutral immediately

Anyone know if its just a case of a replacement belt etc or do the valves touch the pistons on these.

Its worthless really as its done 120k and is full of dents just wondered of the likelyhood of a cheap fix?

Why does it make you lagh, there not that bad to do i have done them in a day and a bit. Probably just be cheaper to get another car, but depends how you value the car and if you are a mechanic.

valves will have hit the piston, you could also be mega unlucky and find that it has damaged the valve guides (which AFAIK can't be changed on these heads) so it could be new cyl head time

It'll have done some damage. With the price of Vectra's at the moment he would do better replacing it than spending out on bits to repair it
