Red face Any tyre Experts on here? advice needed

i have a Renault Scenic II and it has factory fitted 17inch alloys, but uses an odd size tire 205/55/17 these tyres are not always stocked as not as common and do cost a fair bit for a daily hack, i was thinking of changing the tyre to a more common profile, maybe 215/55's or 215/50? but was thought i had better check first but dont know any tyre fitters well enough to get any advice either way, renault have told me that whilst changing the profile is something they dont recommend (but couldn't tell me why lol) any change should not interfere with my trye pressure sensors at all

Any help greatly appreciated chaps

so you are still around then, lol
i reckon it will be fine Gra but thats my uneducated advice, if you lower the profile it may give you a slightly harsher ride but i doubt youd notice with your miss daisy driving style.
as to the sensors i wouldnt have a clue.

i would think if you went 215 then 50 series would be best or go down to 195/60
you can work it out quite easy for yourself which will match the best
tyre size is 205 =205mm wide on tread 55 is side wall hieght =55% of 205mm
therefor if you go up in width by one size then down one in profile and its almost the same rolling radius
