Default iPhone 3g help required :(

Who on here knows anything about replacing the screen on my iPhone 3g, as I seem to have had an unfortunate 'Phone meet floor' incident and shattered the glass that covers the digitizer

My first port of call was apple, who charge a flat £146 for the repair.

Ebay sell glass digitizers on their own for about £40, but i hear it should be a sealed unit, complete with LCD, which are on ebay for about £75...

Anyone on here done a repair on them, or work for a company etc that could give me a quote / solution?

The youtube DIY guides dont exactly fill me with confidence to attempt the repair myself

Many regards,

Paul

ive taken one apart to change the battery for someone, its not that hard to replace the screen id imagine, if you can get the screen and the glass as a unit it would be easier.

How good are you with a soildering iron?

not required for screen change, its all connectors. IIRC the only thing that solders to the board is the battery.

I've now found a company on ebay that replaces the glass OR lcd for about £70, or both for about £105

might be the way to go

oh right if thats that case dont worry about taking it apart its really not that hard, just make sure you look at the vids so you dont snap any of the plastic tabs.

I had some sort of iphone tool to prise the case apart you might need one as well so you dont damage the case...........
