Default Kai's new BMX

Just wanted to say thank you again to those that advised me on which BMX bike to buy Kai for Christmas. In the end he settled on a Haro F3 2009 I took some pics on Christmas eve and I thought I'd post them to show you his new bike. I think it's mint

Cheers everyone

Looks good claire. Won't be long now before he comes home wearing girls jeans and being really grumpy. Then he's a true bmx'er haha.

Has he spent most of his time on it since christmas day?

A true faggot more like... If this happens you take the bike off of him and make him watch some gangster movies with his dad, whislt having an arm wrestle. Men in tight jeans are a big no, and very wrong.

lol!! He's fast turning into Kevin and Perry so it deffo won't be long now. Unfortunately he's been at his dads since boxing day so he only had Christmas day with his bike. He was in and out like a yoyo all day Christmas day and he kept telling me to go upstairs and watch him pull wheelies on the bike and other little tricks he can do.

I can't wait to take him down the skate park with it so he can have a proper go. I'm trying to persuade Scott to buy a bike rack for the Audi so we can all go down and watch him. He said we should buy one for the roof but I can't see how I'd be able to lift the bike all the way up there and strap it on securely lol!!

Have you got him a helmet for the it yet? It would probably be easier for you to get a bike rack that goes on the back to be honest. They can be quite heavy to lift up onto the roof of a car.

His helmet and pads are on order so shouldn't take long before they are delivered. I've told Scott we're getting the bike rack for the back of the car, theres no way I could lift that onto the roof every time without causing loads of damage to the bike and car

I'm really really looking forward to taking him out and about with it though, I just hope he doesn't injure himself while he's learning.

A few injuries here and there are all part of the experience. He's going to come off a few times at some point or other. Chances are they'll be small ones.

Yeah 30 tooth and below is the norm for chainrings these days. I'm old school with 36 teeth on mine, Bring back the days off 44 tooth i say.

Claire, i'd fully recommend shinpads to you. Elbow pads arent so important, but a helmet, knee pads and shin pads are definitely what you want to encourage him to wear.

The bloke in the shop said small cranks were all the rage these days, I had no idea what he was on about but took his word for it.

We said the same about the bell and reflectors, they must just put them on in the shop for some reason, it does look naff though

They put them on in the shop as its a legal requirement at the time of sale for them to be fitted if the bike is sold pre-assembled

They have to have bells and reflectors and a front brake by law now when they're sold.

Doh, too slow.

An old man I got speaking to whilst on my bike told me had a spare bell for me, as it was a legal requirement and the Police could intervine. I refused and whenever I rid past I would shout 'Ding Ding'. So yes, both you and me think we are above the law.

No, it isnt. Same as my bmx isnt because it only has one brake if it's lucky or no brakes depending on how i feel at the time.

I've been out on mine today, very tired and achey after riding and falling off all day.

Kai's home tomorrow so no doubt he'll be out again, I might even have a go myself. Get ready for the broken leg thread in the next few days

LOL, I'm sure Scott will take plenty when I'm flat on my arse after I've fallen off. If he's really clever he'll put the camera in sport mode so he can catch all the action as I fall from the bike to the deck

Looks cool Claire, I used to love my bmx'ing used to go up a track with big ditch jumps, through egging on would do some dangerous shite for a kid on a bike.

Local scrambler dudes at the time used to cheers us on for our ballsiness, and often people would head over to watch forming a crowd lol!! Looking back, it was likely they wanted to get their 250 quid on beedle lol!!

What's one of those? He has to really get into the whole BMX thing for a while before I start upgrading something on the bike. He'll be just like Scott and his car!! Oh boy what have I let myself in for

Sorry missed your post earlier How old is your Kai?, seems BMX's are very popular, my brother has an old Raleigh Extra Burner but he'd never give it to Kai or me for that matter, he's threatening to restore his bike too
