seeing as there are a lot of deals going on nowadays i'm after one as my 20 watt version that came with the kit has started to fart
so, what is out there that properly thumps?
the little titchy speaker set up i got for the pc (which loads of peole said would be crap due to it being about £20) properly shakes the house (i was in bed and it woke me up this morning) AND it's clear as anything so i'm not after a "name" i'm after something that will thump
seeing as the 20 watt sub did the business adequatly for so long, how big is big and how much space to they take up? seeing as they all seem to be in boxes about 15" square?

get huntin for deals on tinterweb, i could help you with home audio and quality gear such as bose or tannoy etc, but as for the bottom end gear that you get from pc world or currys for your pc then i wouldnt have a clue as they are all unknown makes and never around long enuf.
would hunt for what you need on the net then and then look at the specs and they should give you a size of box for the sub and if they dont...then look for the size of speaker in the sub and then work out the volumemetric size of its box.

this is what i've got connected to the pc
http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/pi/267-...1-Product-Info
and it's clear, crisp and thumping enouigh to annoy the neighbours
the problem i've got is that tha sub i've got with the surround won't work with my amp as the amp needs an active sub to work (i've got 2 other subs that won't work either but the thiddly 20 watt version kicks enough to make an impact) so now that the one sub that does work is starting to fart i'm on the lookout for some recomendations
which is why i'd rather have something that fits my needs rather than something which is overkill because i'll never be able to wind it up far enough for any length of time
so, with that in mind, what would you recommend other than the likes of richer sounds?

akso, this is the one that i've got that i tried to replace it with which won't work
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-100WATTS-...1%7C240%3A1318
edited to say:
some of these subs also come with the surround sound set up built inside them, they won't work with the amp either because i don't think they aredesigned to, so it needs to be an active sub only

REL subs are the nuts, i like them but not quite enuf impact in the real low end for me. im in for the tannoys 15" tanoy active sub is a real killer, and a real killer price too tho.

i eventually bought one of these
let's just say that it's enough to frighten the neighbours dog when i plugged it in at 10pm last night, and that was just the bass coming from someones voice
it's got a few twiddly knobs on the back that have rattled the plates in the kitchen sink too
the wife was seriously unimpressed
