I launched my 1.8 TD mondeo estate on Xmas eve, was a young lad in an Evo 6 with a car full of mates at the lights, he was sat there revving up and his mates all pulling faces and waving at me .... I got a PERFECT start, and he bogged it, pulled about two car lengths on him before he came howling past with a face like thunder ... Next set of lights all the lads were giving me thumbs up and calling thier mate a wanker

I always launch the celica, did 3x 5k launches at usc up the strip and it loved it.
I find it fun launching it out of junctions as it goes sideways out the junction.

I don't mind doing mine as long as the 4x4 is loaded up and were rolling slightly, I did launch it at about 6k the other week and it snaked nicely away from the lights which was cool.

I'm not going to make a habit of it though as I can see the clutch being a nightmare to change as well as not being particulary cheap

I never launched the evo as it didn't have a good enough clutch but I launch the m3 all the time. It has more power than grip so it just ends up in a wheelspin so not that much stress as long as you stop it from tramping/champing up and down too hard. Best way is to snap 2nd gear so that it lights up the tyres vastly above road speed and that way no champing. Loads of fun
