Default deisel peeps/mechanics help please?

ive fitted a new fuel pump, timing chain and belt etc to a v plate 1.8 tddi ford focus recently, the pump pumped once programmed but doesn't now?

the engine started with easy start before pump was programmed so know timings right.

problem is whilst bleeding the lines ( cracking off at the injectors) was going to plan till i cracked it off completly to make sure no air was in there and it had stopped pumping? car wont start with easy start and after a while of cranking over the glow plug light starts flashing? im wondering could the glow plugs have gone being one of the reasons easy start will no longer start it? as ive had a simular problem before on a diesel after a little cranking over. and i unplugged the pump to get to a fuel union but am unsure if dad had the ignition on so could have done something there? . any help much appreciated, thank you

Why did you bleed the injectors if the engine was running?!

it had started up on easy start to make sure it was all ok before i'd had the pump programmed lol. could it be ive emptied the pump of diesel where it was a 2nd hand pump and needs to refill? i cant see anyway of pumping diesel to it though, nothing on the fuel filter etc?

COncencous is you've killed the new pump - you ran it dry!

You are ment to use a vacuum pump to draw diesel from the tank before you even crank it let alone run the engine.

towed car around block which sucked fuel up and is pumping again, new glow plugs but wont start and seems to be making a clicking noise when engine turns over whilst being towed? mate thinkg it could be related to the easy start as it makes the engine tight and may have cracked the rings? which im thinking maybe a possiblity as its not even attempting to strart now?

you've killed the pump!

I did R&D at Ford on these engines - and my mate is a Ford Master Technician - and we both think thats the most likly problem.

chers for help alex, pumps working now, just stripped it down to go over the timing again and its not good what i found, by trying to do the job properly even thought im selling it, i fitted new belt, tensioner and timing chain. The belt wasnt genuine ford nor the tnsioner and the tensioner collapsed as was still done up tight but belt was slack,i slackened off the bolt and tried to retension it and it doesn't tension. Tried old tensioner and tensions. Next i thougnt id try and time it up with old tensioner and try my luck and hope theres no bent valves etc (unlikely) then as i went to turn the cam i realised it was snapped so there goes a 50k engine just because a tensioner so im not at all happy lol. im really hoping its just a head
