Focus ST-2, what are they really like?
I currently drive a company car and this morning my company confirmed that I can hand it back now it's out of lease and take the money to buy my own car I've been looking around at a few different things but I really fancy a blue 06 ST-2 and I test drove one at lunchtime.
What are they like to live with? This will be a daily driver and I'll keep the cossie for fun. Is there anything to watch out on them? What MPG do you see out of them and how do they handle? I was on test drive earlier so I couldn't go hooning it around
One of the many things that appeal to me about the ST is the engine and the fact that you can tune it, what is a good state of tune, who does it & how does it affect drive-ability & consumption?
I'd be really interested to hear from anybody that has one or has had one. I'm also considering the RS if there is no limit on how old the car can be
Thanks,
Paul

Had mine for over 2 years now, no problems.
Good all round car.
Yes it does drink a bit of fuel but it is a performance car
Easy to remap to around 280 bhp.
Mine does about 29-32 mpg on a run.
Remap will if anything make the consumption better if you drive it reasonably sensibly.
Love mine but really miss my esc cos !

Simon, what do you think of Company's like DreamScience offering different maps? Race, Economy, Race + Snow Map etc. Surely you can get all this in the one map?
Great cars by the way, perfomance and money wise, best hatch out.
Benni.

Benni,
Those maps are good if used with the right fuel and extra parts like exhaust/cams etc.. and in the right conditions.
Will never be as good as a live map but the DS gives quite a few standard options which pleases most.
Economy maps just impose limits like boost, acceleration etc. Pointless LOL

Benni,
the DS comes with all those maps as standard as said above so this allows those who like to play in their own garages a way of experimenting ... to a point.
The standard remap is probably the best as it has been optimised for the standard engine and parts.
I personally wouldnt use the others as the chances of them being ideal are small.
I hope to have mine MSD'd very soon but am looking to sell it very soon ...if I can..I want an esc cos again...LOL

PassionFord Post Whore!!
if it was my money i'd get a 2.0 tdci titanium.
the st is a look at me car, and i don't like cars like that! you won't be dissappointed by the tdci's handling, granted the st is highly impressive but the cost of fuelling & tyres out-weighs it's appeal imho! and the back prices are dropping like a brick cos theres so many out there selling, and the reason most are selling is the fuel economy!

Thanks for the comments so far guys
I can't stand Vauxhalls, they don't handle very well & they are prone to rusting later on in life. I've got a Vectra at the moment and I hate it and it's been the biggest piece of shit ever made, I've had it 4 years since new and it's been in and out of the garage for electrical faults
I like the styling of the RS, I wouldn't have an orange one though (no offence meant) because it's too lairy looking for me. I've been in company cars for years so I want to get something fun again that is also practical and it looks like it fits the bill

When I was on test drive earlier there was a white Nurburgring edition on the same petrol station and it sounded great, I just couldn't own another Vauxhall though I'm afraid.
