Need a new phone....
I'm long overdue an upgrade, mainly as no new phone appeals to me!
For the past 3 years or so I've been using Nokia 6230i's
It's as good as perfect for me, love the speed, simplicity, big keyboard for comfy texting, and especially the one touch shortcuts to camera, text, calendar, calculator, contact list etc....
Only downsides are the crappy camera and video fuctions and the fact that the internet access (just use it for yahoo email really) has become really tempremental of late.
Tried a couple of candybar type Nokias in the Orange shop today but they both seemed a bit rubbish.....either clumsy menu system and oddly no shortcut to a keylock! (6220) or really flimsy and not much better than what I've got (6500 Classic).
Also tried a N95 8GB..... looks like it can do plenty of cool and useless stuff, but didn't feel that comfy to text, was huge, quite slow and over complicated
N96 just seemed bigger and even worse to use!
So I want something that is fast, has a good camera and video, good internet capabilities, a good keypad, lots of custom shortcuts and can take a beating
I need suggestions!

The one you played with probably wasnt updated with the lastest software, plus loads of teenagers have probably bashed it around and press all the buttons etc.
Its a superb phone and ticks all the boxes for me, i wouldnt be without it
Every other phone ive looked at DOESNT tick all the boxes..............

I've got a 6500 slide, and it's a worthy enough phone. The battery life is poor, and it freezes occasionally. But for a simple no nonsense phone that does all the stuff you want it's worth a look. (Apparently the 6500 slide is better speccd than the 6500 classic, but I've not compared the two)
I looked at the N series Nokias, but they seem built on the cheap, and I had the other functions I'd use already on my iTouch.

The 6500 slide did look a better spec but I didn't try one.... prob should.
Never been that keen on slide or flip phones but open to trying them again now.
N95 8GB is the one people keep seem to be saying, but I had a N73 a while back and hated the thing so much I sent it back and got myself another nice new 6230i instead
Hope that the '95 would be better.....
And yes, just incase it wasn't obvious I'm a proper fussy cunt when it comes to stuff I use all the time

For about three days
Horrible phone.
The N95 is far superior in all aspects.
The sliding display took some time to get used to, but when you're used to it it's bliss.
And I don't work for Nokia

Found this very good in-depth review of the N95.

Seems very good with lots of features. I don't think I would have got it on a free upgrade and has lots of features I wouldn't use anyhow

I got one of these this weekend on a free upgrade. Seems ot be ok right now. although when transferring contacts from the sim to the phone it blanked out & many didn't get moved and were lost Luckily I had only copied them from my old phone and not moved them to the new sim. 3 times I tried and everytime it did this, so they are staying on the sim.

Is ok, its mainly the same phone but with some added features and slightly bigger screen, and of course the built in 8GBs of memory.
A comparison site of the two phones if anyones interested http://www.n95-8gb.com/nokia-n95-8gb-vs-n95.html

I prefer that to my new slide - better functions and more to it (although I prob wouldn't use 1/2 of it). howver this puts me off: "talk 2.0 hrs standby 1.0 days "
Battery life is one of my biggest hates with some phones. The slide is talk 6.0 hrs
standby 13.0 days in comparison

Those figures are probably for the old n95, and even that would last just over a day probably, but the newer black 8gb ones have an upgraded battery which last twice as long.
I get about 2 days out of my N95 8GB, thats with using it abit on and off throughout the day, and if i didnt use it much at all it would last nearly 3 days.

Well I ordered my new phone today, went against my previous judgement and chose the N96!
Was going to get a N95 8GB but it was out of stock..... so ended up getting a a cracking tariff and a free N96
Fingers crossed it's not an over complicated sloth
