My parents are having some work done at the house and the carpenter owns a red MK2 1600 sport. its a 'W' reg and has covered about 60K miles. He's owned the car since it was 15 months old!!! Now I havent seen it but he's saying that it does need some work(!!) doing as its been standing for about 3 years.

I'd like to go round and see it and make him an offer so I have a few questions that need answering first.

are there many about?
what sort of money are they fetching (from mint to need work!)
what were they like when new?
have you any pictures of one?

escort mk.2's have fallen a bit in value now...as most other cars have.

they command good money for 2 door shells in decent condition,even basket cases are worth over 3 figure sums.

go and see what its like, then you can decide.

The one in the link i posted i dont think is worth that kind of cash its all underseal underneath but they are still worth good money as dave said

Nice cars 84bhp, they use the mk1 mexico cam in the sport and ghia, but very tuneable too.
