l6 Can run superunleaded as this is the only fuel you should really put in a tuned cossie

@James

You can pick and choose any aftermarket ECU you want and get it mapped here. Its when it comes to mapping the standard stuff we are stuck.

If you want PM me and i'll discuss it more

They aren't that good to be honest. Seen/heard loads of mess ups they've made that have had to be fixed by other tuners. Even when it comes to their Autronic mapping...

Some of the power figures they get on their RR are VERY optomistic too....

james you also find that the autronic setup off that car made its way to ireland also would be great if you get hold of the original map from that ecu for another autronic setup if you decide to go down that route

Would be worth asking Mark, im sure he still has a copy of the map, but on the other hand, I would still want to check it over if it was me, but it would be a good starting point at least.

like you said it would only need check and maybe some small alterations which would be far less than getting it mapped a fresh on autronics

hi,

are your individual coils Toyota 90919-02240 from a yaris by any chance?

if so - do you have any details about required drive voltage / current required and dwell?

thanks

I'm sure Mark still has the mapping saved on his computer from when he mapped it. If you managed to find an Autronic Unit, I'm sure Mark would burn on the mapping. Cheaper than having it re-mapped again.

Rod, No doubt the Autronic is a good ecu but it isnt the be all and end all.

It may be Marks "current" choice of ecu but it is Marks skills that give the results not the electronics !

Also, not everyone has deep pockets... !

Maybe true but you can get an L8 with all bits ready to go or upgrade the one that you may already have !

That isnt the point though, I personally would choose Autronic over L8 myself given a big budget thats all I was getting at.

Not everyone can afford one or actually needs one !

You dont need an expensive ecu to get big power or to make it drive nicely,
The setup and attention to detail is the key... Mark is a brilliant tuner but he isnt the only one out there !

If someone is happy with there ecu choice then thats all that matters.

The original question asked about L8 and Autronic so I didnt mention anything else.

Never heard a bad thing about Gotech but never have seen it myself so cant answer.

Most after market stuff is pretty good now.. !!

a l8 mapped by msd will be perfect in all areas, i wouldnt change to anything else as i wont notice a difference, as my cossie is already as smooth as modern ford engine but with 380bhp. and if it fucks up its only £200 for a new one...

Could have sworn i posted a reply to this topic last night, something either went wrong or it was deleted

Can i just clarify, i'm not having a go at autronic or Marks mapping (how can you? Both have been proved numerous times!)

One of my friends Niall put autronic on his 3 door a few years back when it was just coming in, he bought it directly from Mark and as far as i'm aware dealt directly with mark regarding fitting it himself etc.

It was then mapped here by someone other than AI which resulted in a very nice driving car indeed.

Personally thats the way i'd do it if you are set on autronic!

My opinion is based solely on my experience with AI. While they may be able to map a car, there are others out there that will do it far better than them.
