id say you should be ok with that then Paul, no reason to really be panicing.

as said above, i was always under the impression that there was a 10% margin.

75 on the clocks of an old car(assuming it was the car in your sig?) would be no faster than 70 so you should be ok

Speeding is an "Absolute Offence" so there is no margin.

Most Chief Constables signed up to an unofficial guideline that allowed officers flexibility in deciding to prosecute at speeds up to 10% +2mph (35, 68, 79) but that arrangement has started to break down in recent years.

I was done for 80mph on a motorway, so they certainly weren't being overly generous in their interpretation but, as said, my speedo probably showed about 85 at the time.

but what was your speedo reading? theres meant to be a 10% over reading in your clock so your speedo was probably reading about 36 in that 30 for you to be done for 33?

It used to be 10% +3 so i was told by pal in police but this was about 13 years ago so don't know if 100% correct, all i know is 37 gets you 3 points now

but the general consensus of being allowed 10% means you wouldnt get done at 33 but 34.

coppers tailing you and your doing 10% over the limit, you would be unlucky to get a tug unless they had a cob on.

Speed camera I would imagine is set to pick up anyone over the limit the camera is set to.

I know of a few pople caught on camera doing 33/34mph in a 30. But as siad, chances are there actually thought they were doing 36/38mph on the speedo so can't moan.

I also heard that they only prosecute the top 10% of people caught on a camera. pub talk methinks!!

Cop with a kodak i think is at their discretion, camera set at a limit i would presume.
I thought that speeding is speeding now though and they were out for all they could get!

lmao at davemark comment!

The law says the ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM SPEED is 70mph, it's not a recommendation, it's the MOST you can do, so you 'should' keep below 70mph on your speedo....there's no margin as far as i know.

I have no idea if you'll get done or not, but it's possible.

If you're in a 70 mph zone and you get clocked at 70.5mph you can be prosecuted. As said above its an absolute offence.

There are guidelines for officers which vary from force to force which is usually 10% +1 however if they think you are an arsehole or it being christmas then there may be less margin

The fact your speedo may/maynot be accurate is an entirely separate matter of no concern to the police.

Agreed, my mondy is way out at motorway speeds.

I was always suspicious of my estate doing 130mph with only 130bhp!!!
