Default Cossie solid diff mounts

FAO anyone using a solid diff mount, how do you find them, in terms of vibration and noise, do you notice any other effects ?
I have been running one for 3 weeks now, a shore 90 one so very solid poly as well, have not noticed any virabtion, but quite a bit of noise, diff whine being transmitted through etc.
The biggest difference though is the car is not at all upset when hitting bumps/ridges when going straight or round corners, and not a trace of rear wheel steer now, it also rolls a hell of a lot less, I do not have my roll bar on at mo as it won't go round the one I have, the new solid mounts due out end jan/feb time will be a different design to accomdate the std roll bar.
I am having a custom made roll bar in EN16T but he's busy till end jan time.
How have other people found them, does anyone use these with solid beam mounts as well, how do they compare please.
Any input appreciated, thanks.

Handling is much better alright, why ford didn't do this I don't know.
I changed the tank at the same time, so think I will have to see if the rubber pieces have slipped when I bolted it up between chassis and tank.
I keep forgetting my roll bar is not there, as roll is so reduced.
Will take some piccies and then work out how to get them up.

Yours must be different to mine then as the noise from mine is properly loud, car is stripped out mind but was next to no noise with standard mount.

Dunno if its the fact it is a plated diff makes any difference but on over-run above 40-50mph its pretty deafening

hi tabetha
i would never have thought a diff mount would have made such a diff especially when you have no anti roll bar fitted.
damn something else to add to the list,ha
cheers james

I fitted the polybush mount to mine and it really increased the noise from the diff.....the improvement in handling and tramp far out weigh the noise though. In fact i'd go as far to say that I quite like the noise as it goes well with the stripped out theme.......ask me the same question after ive driven it to france and back during next years leman trip though

i solid mounted the diff on the escos, and i didnt notice any extra noise.

tabetha, try using a granada scorpio rear antiroll bar.as there is more clearance by the diff. i have one i can take pics of tommorow if any good to you.
its a direct replacement,21mm thick.

There is a BIG difference between a proper metal to metal solid diff mount and the ones most people are talking about, which is a Poly bush, NOT solid metal.......

3 door are a different fitting onto the arm mate, but you can modify them.
escos rollbars are 22mm thick, but normally sell for 50 quid upwards.
scorpio rollbars are 21 mm thick, normally sell for 10 quid.

Neither 2wd/4wd/escos/ or scorpio fit with the "solid/poly" diff mounts.
I have a scorpio sallon roll bar, nothing like going to fit.
I have just ordered some sound deadening pads to quieten a bit of noise.
I have a man making me a one off roll bar from EN16T proper correct sprung steel, in any thickness I like, was going for 22mm, but will think very hard about a smaller diametre now as roll is reduced significantly with new diff mount.
The scorpio roll bar is actually slightly closer to the mount than the std roll bar, although will fit with std mount no problem.
The solid/poly mounts are very bulky, and whereas the std mount goes OVER the lugs on the diff casing so it so further away from roll bar, the solid/poly ones sit flush on the lugs on diff, and are about 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" thicker on the diff casing.
In light of not being able to fit a roll bar on would I do it again ?, without a doubt YES, just too many advantages, I even forget most of the time it is not running a rear arb, that is how good it is, I don't think I am going to try the front solid mounts that I have, as the amazing difference shows just how bad they were to start with, my std diff mount was a new one, and was also packed with poly bar to make it stiffer, but still no comparison.

I have one on my car, and on the over-run it transmits a LOT more noise into the car, but other than that it is fine.

It seems to be a bit hit and miss as to which cars the top bolt touches on. It doesn't even seem to be ARB dependent. Some touch and some don't (even on my 22mm ARB, I didn't have any issues). However, there are three really easy things to do to clear if it is an issue.
1. Grind a small amount off the bolt.
2. Grind a small amount off the ARB.
3. Modifiy the diff mount like this:

I have three of the normal diff mounts in stock, and then the next batch will all be modified as per the above to ensure there are no clearance problems with any car .

Mines solid mounted & to be sure i double sound proofed the boot floor & into the cabin, aint noticed any extra noise & any noise is to much for me i dont believe some of the noise you lads put up with when driving, if I wanted that pleasure I would buy a tin bath get under it & get someone to hit it with a hammer, its an age thing I suppose.

Thats what i've got for mine Will, a solid ally bracket.

The only polly bushes on my car (bar engine and box) will be the rear ARB, everything else is rosejoint...so adding a bit more noise wont hurt

Not actually driven it yet like this so cannot comment on noise.....

http://www.mc2racing.com/products/xr...507/index.html Polly style.

http://www.mc2racing.com/products/xr...013/index.html properly solid style like I have.

This is my solid diff plate. I was getting loads of axle tramp and saffs and 3doors have an isolator block that can't be fitted on the esc so I had to fit this.

If your getting a lot of axle tramp check to see if you have the bush behind the std diff mount.
