whys it all about acceleration?the races are started from a rolling start and your lucky to ever get over 50 so staying in 2nd gear is usually perfect anyway.

x-flow box does fit on
but depends whether the mondeo has the earlier type linkage and cable clutch
or late spec cable change and hydraulic clutch
also most mondeo's have the starter at the back, x-flow will be at the front

What most banger boys do is wire up an EDIS module and it runs no advance at all, but hey they just cane the shit out of them anyway.
What they should be doing is using the ECS Module from the early fiesta.
Although I did hear of a little trick to do with moving the crank sensor slightly to alter the static timing.

Story so far is met up with my brother last night he has done his first Banger race and totaly loved it there is a Metro meet next week and he has the car all ready but next month there is a Mondeo 2.0L meet and he wants to be as quick if not the quickest off the mark
first off we was trying to think how you could make a N/A 2.0L mondeo fast without spending £5000 on a whole new engine
Spoke to mike and he sugested closer ratio gears and the 150hp zetec lump you get in a mondy
told him that a set of second hande coilovers "cant find any yet" and decent'ish part worns 195/50/15 Tyres instead of the normal road tyres will help
since then today i see a ST170 engine box everthing for a conversion for £800
done a serch on ST170 and Carbs and all it brings back on google and here are Bike throttle bodys, Would they be classed as CARBS in the Banger Regs?
really am considering building one of these and going out to try and win the race rather than smash the fuck out of it lol

being reliable is not what he wants and chances are the engines going to get totaled anyway if it dont cook first!
Could the Bike carb setup work would it pass as non Efi and how would you get the engine to run without an ECU or am i pissing into the wind?

Ben,
If you don't even know the rules and regulations, then what chance does anyone stand helping you . Throttle bodies and the like WILL be classed as fuel injection you muppet. I would imagine they have specified that it has to be a single carb as well to keep costs down. What about fitting a radiator inside the car in the crash structure, so he retains as much power as possible, because this will obviously be dying off towards the end of the race as the car gets hotter and hotter!

i used to do a lot of banger and saloon stox racing, many years ago.
fit a rad and fan in the car, where the back seats used to be.and use scafolding pole to connect it to the engine,
cut a side wall out of a tyre, and use it on the outside of the wheel, you will need innertubes to keep the tyre inflated, this stops damage and punctures.
2.0l engine,fitted with a 1600 cylinderhead.very high comp,difficult to start/may need 24v to the starter motor,but it will rev really good.wont last long,but who cares.
