i cut the injector wire next to the ecu scart and put my one test lead in the live on the injector scart and the other on the wire coming out of the ecu where i cut it and i got 12v from the ecu as it was sending a earth out. and nothing coming down the loom. so the looms fine.
i'm stuck on what to do now i dont know if ive buggered it by fitting the wasted spark stuff as i never used it before i fitted the wasted spark stuff.
any advice

bassically i have 12v at the injector loom plug constantly when the ignition is on, from what i know the live comes from the relay/ignition etc and the ecu supplys the earth when it wants to spray the inj, so i opened the ecu scart up, it find the wire that goes in pin33 which is the injector 3 earth brown/black, so i cut it 6inchs away from the ecu scart, so i have the wire from the ecu to test and also the wire that goes to inj 3 next to each other as they did join untill i cut it, so i know which way the earth is coming from.
then i put a volt meter in the loom connector for the injector on the side with the live supply, then i ran the other lead on the tester into the car, too the wire i cut on the ecu scart side and i got 12v, then i tryed the wire that goes to the injector and i gone nothing, so the earth is permant from the ecu. now ive cut that wire i no longer a have constant 12v at the injector scart.
any advise on what do with the ecu now?
cheers

i would try pulling the plug off the injector first of all as it may simply be a jammed open injector (i.e not an ecu fault at all).
i'm no expert on this but if the ecu was holding the injector open then it would most likely have fried the injector by now in which case it would be permanently closed.
if it is the ecu and the driver transistor has gone short circuit then a 12 volt bulb across the injector would be permanently lit up.
if the driver transistor in the ecu is the same as an L6 its a BDX53C iirc - available here http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/s...rchTerm=bdx53c

just read this again and can't work out whether you caused the problem by cutting the loom or you cut the loom trying to locate the problem?

iirc the injectors do have a permanent 12v feed when ignition is on & are fired by an earth pulse. if its constantly open then its more than likely the loom at fault & its earthed somewhere

i cut the loom so i could see if the earth was coming back from the loom to the ecu, by cuting it i could test either way and it ended up being the ecu sending a earth out up the loom...
thanks jtechsaph i'm gonna send it off to msd, i suspect ive fitted the wasted spark stuff wrong
