2k will give you work related asthma in no time, if you breathe the vapours.
The problem being you dont even notice you have a problem for up to 20 years, at which time its to late, and need to breathe through a machine for the rest of your life.

i know of a few people who suffer from this mildly, and they describe it as trying to breathe through a tiny straw all the time, it doesnt cause cancer or kill you in that way, it just ruins your life. it must be fookin horrible.

its not to be messed with, hence they are trying to ban its use.

if your mate is using 2k, and not using an air fed mask, he will one day realise he was very very silly. i would recommend he goes to the doctor, and they will carry out urine samples to measure the amount in him

its common for alot of refinishers to flip up the visor after a coat of paint to take a look at the finish, sadly this is one of the easiest ways over a period of time to become very ill.

i did extensive research on this when i was teaching refinishing.

I used to have a full face mask, better than most civvie airfeds as mine was like a gas mask fully sealed rather than just like a hardhat with visor.

The very few times I sprayed jobs without it for a reason, say blowing bits in, or something small and didn't want to put mask on for easyness, you'd feel it on your breathing and its nasty shit.

Isocyanates isnt to be messed with as it can turn cancerous!

for Ł2.99 , that link is a simple, carbon filter mask, designed for low risk use.

Ie you can use it for cellulose in a ventilated area, tho good luck getting hold of that for much longer!

2k must be used with a sealed air fed mask
like this devilbliss mask

http://www.cartersconsumables.co.uk/...acturers_id=29

Cheapest ones are about Ł250 last time i looked.

Its not the mask that costs its the canister.

you cant just plug a mask into a compressor, that is just as likeley to kill you as the 2k is!

the canister is basically an inline air filter, which decontaminates the compressed air from the tank and also removes any excess water.
