Ok a bit of an update......

Been busy testing on cars with good success.
I will update the demo version in a few days to show the new alarms and diagnostics functions.

I hope to demostrate it in its final fully working version to an independant user on here over the week and I hope he will write up an unbiased report ...warts and all..LOL.

If all goes well, I will let a few of you on here try it yourselves

Now for the important stuff.....I need to give this software a name..... LOL
At the moment its called FPM which was an original acronym for Ford Pectel Monitor just as a project title for my filing system..
Reasonable unique suggestions welcomed.

It is my plan to make this widely available as of the first week in the new year.

I am sad to say my preferred outlet has ignored my requests so I have to rethink what the future holds for it but if I cant sell it, I will publish it for free !
Shame really as this is not the only new thing I have in the pipeline !

Thanks people

Did you get that document you requested last week by the way? I didnt hear back from you...

Free? now thats a great plan. For everyone but you.

You would be crackers and your proving again that you need SOMEONE ELSE to market your products after you have designed them mate.

Please take that comment as it was intended. Just friendly advice.

Stu,

Yes many thanks I did receive your email with info I requested.. Thanks.

All mouth no action ?.... I dispute that 110% !!!!

I have worked my ass off on this software.
(I am unemployed at present and dont have much else to do during the day LOL)

May I suggest you re-read the email I sent you requesting the said information.
Either you didnt read it all (too busy ?) or were not interested ???
As you only partially replied to that email, I assumed it was the latter. !

Thanks

LOL, I like the way you think

SIMS might not be a good idea as its a registered trade name already for software (a game).

im sure there be someone along to make you a offer of pittance for the product and turn it into a healthy profit simon !!why not just make ur own selling site and market it through that rather than giving money away as giving it free well you wont get that time back and selling it through some trader why give them the money when you can do it urself ?

Probably too busy mate, and it will be deleted now so feel free to have another go.

My reference was to your comment that your preffered supplier let you down, hence my comment.

You always were too paranoid pal. lol

*** UPDATE ***

Here... http://www.s8ecu.co.uk/FPM_DEMO_081208.zip

Added a few things like the data logging, fuel and ignition map readers, diagnostics, user alarms messages and also the lambda sensor voltage input.
Also added the facility to hide the main window (Press F4 to toggle this)
Done many internal modfications to make it more robust.
Also added the copy protection but without a key,the software automatically goes into demo mode.

The fault code and alarms functions dont work in demo mode at present.
EDIT: The data logger wont allow access either (I uploaded the wrong version...sorry )

Try this: Go online and select the mapping read fuel map.... etc...

For those who are interested, I have also left enabled the ecu memory examiner function.
This allows you to look at the unencrypted data in the chip although I will restrict use on this in some versions for obvious reasons. !

I am concentrating on testing on a car now so I can get some out there for some of you to trial.

The next job for me on this is to write the help file which I am dreading ...LOL

Please remember this is currently a demo program, it will not work on a car without an activation key and these are not yet publically available.

My next update on this should include details of the products future and a full feature list.

Any questions or comments on the software itself , please ask away.

Doug (lol),

I will be adding extra fancy gauges, bar graphs etc..

[NERD]
In fact, the way I am doing this, other programmers can add whats called "active X", "OLE" and "DDE" based components without intervention from me !!
This also means you could link it to other programs like power point/excel etc.. and do so much more with the data it generates !!!
[/NERD]

This isnt a priority as I want it to work as it stands first.
It is my intention to develop this to its full potential and hopefully add stuff as people ask for it.
Updates will always be freely available once released.

Stu,

thanks for your comments
I have another job but dont start till the new year

OBD wont be available for a while as I am concentrating on Fords first aswell as a few other area's that I cannot mention at present.

There is plenty of OBD software out there already, some of it 100% free !!!!!

James,

Yes.

I will be giving it the ability to connect to various off the shelf equipment.

This will be done via serial links or existing available interface boards from other manufacturers.

As the program filters out to people, I will add stuff that gets requested provided its reasonably acheivable.

A small update...

I have discovered how to add a few extra parameters over and above the original pectel monitor....

Lambda Voltage
Lambda Correction of fuel map %
Knock Sensor Correction %
Knock Detected Status

(Of course only available if the software supports them)

Just looking to include some ALS and 8 injector version ecu parameters too

Also, I have added Fuel Injector duty Ratio as this can be calculated from RPM and Injection Pulse Time quite easily.

The software uses the RS232 serial port (USB adapter may be needed if you dont have one)

The cable from the RS232 connector to the ECU isnt just a pure wire link.

There needs to be a few electrical components to translate the voltage levels correctly.

I will publish details of this soon.

*** SMALL UPDATE ON PROGRESS ***

I have sucessfully tested this on several L8's in cars now.
Have discovered that some tuners mapping leaves alot to be desired...LOL

Got a test on L8 with 8 injectors (super 8) this week after christmas.
Hopefully will be able to read out the 2nd injector bank mapping details too.

I hope to publish a free function limited version soon for anyone to try but you will need to make your own cable from a diagram that I will publish or borrow a cable from me.

Thanks all for those who have helped so far

I hope soon to turn all this info into a small standalone device.....

What can i say?,what a great job youv'e done.
I live in Italy were the Weber/iaw ecus were made and i can never

If you ever require any spares, ecus and other Italian made weber bits
you let me know mate and i'll try my best to get them for you.
Thank god people like you exist,i wish you the best of luck with this
fascinating project!.
As soon as the system is up and running i'm gonna use it on my
Pectel super 8 turboed corrado.
All the best!.

Yes if the ECU supports it.
You would need to ask your tuner to modify your chip to do this first.
(Only a few are able to this )

Free working versions will be function limited for now and will be copy protected.
It isnt for sale at this point in time as I have yet to find someone to take it on...Preferably a PF trader
This will be sorted within the next few weeks (or I will end up giving it away FOC ..LOL )
It will work with MSD chips with the pectel protocol enabled.
MSD can add this to your chip for a small fee if you dont already have it.

It can only read boost pressure via the ECU so it must support the correct map sensor.
There will be an add on interface that you can add an additional sensor(s) independant of the ECU of your own choice. (Future if it becomes popular)

Thanks for the comments and offer of help.
There is plenty of info about IAW except for the Ford versions, especially Pectel derivatives.
I use to work in the ECU industry so have plenty of inside knowledge and also have hacked many ECU's for other companies so they are able to tune them !

I have tested it today on a Pectel Super 8 with good results (BIG Thanks to cossiedave )

How well do you think this will compare with the IAW monitor that I sell now Simon?

**** UPDATE ****

As I said above, all working fine on a Pectel Super 8 (8 injector L8)

I will be making some leads up next week so I can give a few working demo versions out to try.
Thanks all who have commented and/or helped so far

Stu,

I never wanted this to compete with your product (more specifically..YOU) and if the truth be told, I could have made this over 5 years ago if things were different and/or I wasnt so lazy..LOL.
I wanted an armchair software project to do in my spare time and this seemed a good thing to do bearing in mind I had 90% of the info in my posession already that was going to waste.

I want this to do so much more than a basic monitor.
It has many more functions and is more user customisable.
Not sure at this point in time how and what functions will be made available and to who...etc..
It already can read extra stuff like Fuel/Ignition maps, display extra live data like lambda sensors inputs and lambda fuel correction, knock sensor status...etc.
Will also have many more graphic gauge types as time goes on.
If it takes off, I want to add an extra interface board for extra sensors like speedo, wideband etc..

One thing I have discovered is a way to live map the main fuel and spark tables in real time just like an aftermarket ECU.
Obviously, this is only valid while the computer is online to the ecu due to the lack of flash memory in the ecu but
I have yet to decide if this feature will be ever available publically..

Just think what could be done with a lightly modified baby board !!!
