Yes mate, I had a 2.2 Cd... it was a nice car, lots of gadgets etc. Good for cruising on motorways but really thirsty. Personally though I would steer away from the 2.2 as they have a problems with the timing chain oil jets. There was a recall on them as the jets kept blocking which in turn caused the chain to snap. Until very recently this was a free mod that was carried out by vauxhall which has now stopped. So if your motor hasnt had the mod done and it snaps a chain then its good night vienna for the car. If you do want the motor, I would call up Vauxhall and see if it was on the recall list and had the mod done. I dont know if it was just the 2.2 but the front suspension tend to knock and the rose joints ( I think thats what they are called ) are a weak point and need replacing. If you do a goog le on the 2.2 then it should bring up the problems.

yep they are fucking shite, i have warned someone not to buy one as they can suffer timing chains snapping and they bought it anyway, true to being a shite engine the timing chain slipped, the guides broke and luckily only needed a new kit. they are just shit and i can't be bothered mentioning the other one that chucked its hand in as they are bad news.

i have a mate who can do them dead easy as he has done so many and he warns people to stay clear as they are shit

vectras are nice comfy cars, i have had loads, the best one in my opinion is the 1.8 130 and the 2.0 dti, them engines are the ones taxi drivers use the most, the 2.2 dti's are poky engines that are reliable too.

the other problem someone i know had with a 2.2 petrol veccie was the timing chain tensioner went bandit and the chain went slack, it sounded like spanners rattling round a box of nuts, after fixing it the car was sold to a mate with a garage who got stuck with it but eventually sold got rid , 9 months later another mate phones me up going on about this cheep 2.2 veccie he has bought and what do i think and it only turns out its the one that had the problem with the timing chain, then i find out the geezer who bought it from the mate with the garage had a new engine as the timing chain had snapped,, and another vauxhall specialist mate of mine had repaired it and had charged and supplied a invoice for more than the car was worth so i tried telling my mate who had the car to fuck it off. anyway he was raving about how good it was and its cheep etc, 7 weeks go by and over 200 quid advertising it and i bump into my mate who has the car still and he says i was right its easier shifting herpes than 2.2 vectra petrol saloons, he eventually blew money on it just to get rid of it.

My sis in law had a 52 plate 2.2 Vectra few years ago, the biggest problem with it seemed to be the rear shockers, can't remember how many times my brother replaced them!
