Not sure what to do......
Ok, yesterday i started getting a sore throat, didnt really think much of it..... took some lempsips and halls extra strong things.
Woke up this morning in absolute agony!!
I could barely swallow ( no jokes please! ) and barely move my jaw ( again, no jokes please! ) and every time i swallowed ( you know what im going to say....) it was pure hell!
Well, i got some Difflam spray today which is supposed to numb my throat, but its done bugger all!
Well, as the day has gone on im pretty sure its got worse, and the left side of my fave is really swollen, and im struggling to swallow.....
Do i wait til the morning to see if its got any better or do i call the emergency docs??

NHS direct or emergency doctors.
Its not normal to not be able to eat/drink at all and have a huge swollen face from a throat bug.
You alergic to anything???
Is it effecting breathing much??? If your struggling to breathe then A+E/ambulance.

you ring NHS direct then they note it down and a nurse rings you back if needs be and tells you what to do next. Actually quite good in my experience (strange for the NHS ) but you need to be totally honest on symptoms and not "play it down" so they can make a proper assessment based on what you say.

I would go and get it checked Maria. Even if it's something and nothing, they may be able to releave some pain which is always good. On the other hand, you could leave saying 'If I hadn't gone the doctors when I did...'

could be glandular fever, sounds similar, ive had it twice and ended up in hospital for a month the last time, you end up not being able to swallow even your own saliva and you cant open your mouth more than a couple of mm,hope it isnt that though

typical
I can imagine a recorded message on the 999 line " Im sorry we are unable to take your call at the moment due to NHS not paying the bill. If your injury is life threatening please ring 752859876209 for your local mortuary service"

the nhs line normally says go to the hospital and get it checked if its that bad better to go and find out what it is and get some antibiotics and pain killers now than have to spend some time there if it is some thing serious and get well soon

Our local Doctor wrote an article in our weekly mag along the lines of:
- Only come into my surgery if you are dying - if you are really dying don't actually come in; go straight to a&e
- Only ring NHS direct if you want to be told to call an ambulance and go to a&e
- If you come in with an other symptoms, your a pussy, stay away and it will fix itself in a week or two.

better over the phone in my experience, sometimes you need to be told to go to the hospital and if you need to then they will let you know.

She has said if my symptoms dont get anybetter within the next 48 hours then to either call them again or go to the doctors!
Or, if they get any worse, to call them again anyway! she said the main thing is i can move my neck, and my chin can touch my chest and i have no rash!
