Default Nurburgring times for average/production cars?

I've tried google and can only find the fast stuff really plus a few "hot" production cars?

I need a list of times for standard production cars and/or some of your own times for the mildly tuned stuff! I'm not talking about Corvettes or Zagondas or all that unattainable stuff.

What sort of times have people recorded themselves and at what state of tune/track preparedness?

I know this has been covered loads of times before but I've never been interested up until now

Was it standard mate? Having seen figures for other cars that sounds quick!

What I'm really after is a time to aim for, with a budget car that can basically keep up with stuff that's 10 times the cost!

I'm gathering that anything under 9 minutes is pretty impressive!?

Cheers Gary. Had you done many laps of the place before? Have you done many other track days or organised racing??

*EDITED TO ADD* Same question for you Alps, and anyone else that posts a time up please

I managed 9mins on the dot in a current shape golf gti turbo thing with paddle shift. I expect there was more time in it, but we were not hanging about and only picked it up from the hire car company 4 laps before we got that time.

8:57 in a standard sapphire cosworth with no track mods (std road suspension and original size 15" 205 tyres) and 3 people on board

that is quick for that car as you will see from the video, although could have been quicker had i have nailed it from the start and not got 3rd gear instead of 5th half way around and bent 2 inlet valves

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31tIWotGvKE

i have done about 100 laps before and would say that i know the road very well. you going over sometime than mate?

Good memory, 8:34 on the same lap as Jim did his 8.38.

Was a good run around, we followed the Ring Taxi for some of it which helped clear the track for us!

See the vid in my Siggy for how it was done - plenty of Sabine going sideways in front of us too!

Out of interest, how much is actually missed out between the Gantry and Bridge?

Also, how are people actually timing these laps, just with a stop watch or on their camcorder's?

Anyone know or have a link to opening times?

Really would like to go in the next two months but guessing it'll be closed to the public?

how much is missed out depends very much on the speed of car as the missed section is just a flat out straight and you normally back off straight after the gantry to cool down before coming off. i would say something like between 20 to 40 seconds but have never driven the full lap to judge it.

i timed mine with gps recorder and a camcorder, as camcorder only footage can easily be sped up by 5% or whatever without you being able to tell. not that i'm suggesting anybody has.

2nd ever lap, BMW E39 528i around 200hp and 4 tonnes lol. Did a 10:04 B to G but that was 3 sets of roadworks with speed limits . Looking at the datalog, without these it would have been around a 9:30.

Your car is an interesting one, I take it there was a problem then? What time do you realistically think you could achieve or would be chasing as a personal goal? 9 minutes?

crap driver

it was my first visit, and i didn't want to break any records, i just wanted to enjoy the trip.

i have no idea of the time i could acheive, but i definetly could go alot quicker, with knowing the track more.

i just dont know what time i could acheive though

I did an 11.15 in a Skoda Octavia TDi 110bhp, 4 up, boot full of crap.

First lap of the place. Didnt want to go mega wild and bend it, cos your a long way from home, plus we'd gotta get back to Spa francochamps for another 2 day track event.

How come Clarkson took all day doing countless laps to do a ten minute lap if everyone on here is talking 8's and 9's?

That Jag must have been fairly quick, and I'm sure he's as good as or a better driver than most on here......

It wasnt that quick a car the Jag......Sabine could only get it to about 9.30ish?

I'm sure Sabine would put more than 30 seconds on most of the times posted here

Its all about knowledge at the 'Ring...

Its little to do with the car...

For example:

1st year in a scooby Type RA - about 9 mins

2nd year in a MINI Cooper S GP - about 9 mins

3rd year in an MGF just less than 10mins

Last time in VW golf mk2 - about 9 mins.

Cars are getting slow but I am getting faster as I now know the road well enough to experiement with different lines through corners.
