Had my car down at ava to get setup and they said that the intercooler was'nt gettting a decent amount of airflow to the intercooler

Its a frontera intercool witch is almost brand new and got it for a tenner out of the scrappies however like they said its not working out properly

Trouble is i realyl dont want to have to cut the front bumper becasue for one i think it looks really shite and i dont want a intercooler that visable anyway

If i have to cut it then so be it but i want to try a different option, the frontera number is tall but thin, now iv seen that saph coolers are short but think and narrow, would this be a good option?

No intercooler will work behind a bumper. A rear wheel drive saff intercooler might fit nicely in the lower section of your bumper. What sort of boost are you running? Shame it is a problem as it looks like my sort of car, clean standard look with good power.

Another idea is how about a charge cooler? Big turbo Escort cossies had them fitted as standard.

There is a big turbo escort cossie one on ebay for £10 at the moment, gives you half intercooler and half charge cooler. You would need to make up a pump and rad for it, but I recon it would solve your problems?

Its only running at 8psi atm, iv got sab red injectors and EDS phs 2 chips for it also one of those crap fse fpr's but i think ill launch that out the window for a cossie webber job since alot of Let folk seem to like using them

AVA said that the exhause was too small and the intercooler wansnt getting enought air to it and siad they didnt want to put the chips and injectors in untill iv got those 2 things sorted, so got a full 2.5" system put on and thats the cooler left

Aye actully i had a look as escos ones a while ago and thought that it could be a good option

How about a subtle change?
Use a slightly smaller plate and then mesh behind it

Well actully if i turn it upside down i can lower it down some because the ports are at the bottom of the intercooler atm so it rests on the crossmember, touble is if i do that then i might have to weld up a new pipe becuase of the stupid angle its at

The idea with that reg looks good, however is that legal?

cld you try boxin it in aswell as turning it upside down so it directs air into it rather than letting it pass around it? with that you should see youre temps drop

Although the plate is not legal, I never had any problems with it.
It was still standard width and font, just not as tall

Could trim the whole section out where the plate fits then fix the plate back on with some thin metal brackets.

If you turn the cooler upside down and the entry and exit are at the top then your shooting yourself in the foot, (most of the air will flow at the top of the cooler where there is least airflow)

You could go for a deeper intercooler that isn't so tall, maybe 3 inch core and only 4 inches tall if you can find it.
