Default Coil pack location

Im going to be switching to coilpack soon to get rid of my high boost missfire, was thinking of places to mount the coilpack out of sight.
So question
1. Do they need to be sheltered from water as was thinking next to the battery under the slam pannel.
2. I got a set of leas from Euan along with other parts but he had his coilpack mounted in the original map sensor position due to his ecu having one inbuilt, would it cause problems mounting it close to the map sensor or is there a set distance to have them apart.

Not a good idea to mount near any sensor, due to HT voltage and possible interference.
I have seen one mounted behind the firerwall panel, but I have mine in the std coil place, even the tps can pick up interference and some peoples ht leads are right next to it.

Thanks Tabetha thought interference might be a problem with the map sensor.
So is there any problem with water ingress if i mount it behind the firewall panel as i may do a swedish style cam cover at some point to cleaner for running the leads to there.

Shouldn't be a problem with water there as all leads etc are sealed, but could always put in a plastic bag to be safe ?
I'm going to mount mine under the inlet eventually, if there is room, haven't had a look yet.

Its the best place for it to remove interference issues EXCEPT for the possibility of potential water problems !!!

I would advise a cover over it if it was mine..

Is there any reason why you cant fit it where the original coil was?? Just seems obvious place to me.

Got mine in the standard coil location.

just cut 4 equal length pieces of alloy tubing and drilled some holes in the inner wing and just held it all together with nuts and bolts! Job done!

Main reason is i think i will go for a swedish style cam cover in the future so easyer lead run if the coil is at the back of the bay.

I just did mine a bit quickly and used 2 x 5mm bolts, through the inner wing, using one original hole but had to drill one more, there are loads of holes there, just nut/washer on underside of inner wing, but will be getting a zetec type coil mount and putting on upright part of inner wing so it sits nice, as I have the blingy yellow ended accel coil!!
