to answer your question, im afraid not many
the vauxhall boys on the general do not spend anywhere near the same amount of money as the cosworth scene has, however the engines are very capible.
1000bhp in fwd drag cars is possible with one fwd astra running into the 8's
and as road cars there are a handfull between 450 and 500 with a couple over 500.
nothing like the numbers of the cosworth engine, but not because its not capible, because the ford scene just has more money in it.

Nice one. I assume they don't have the same money spent on them because their not in a classic car, and mainly in Shabby old Corsa's etc. No offence.
P.S Sorry for taking over the thread.
Benni.

Has it not crossed your mind to put the ZETEC TURBO in the westy?
just sell the fez with a cheap chv in it or even as an engineless car.
that way you dont looes out on the money you have spent on the engine.
Id dare say the westy would be worth more, or at least more sellable than the fez.

Go to www.locostbuilders.co.uk
you will be able to chat to people who own and build lotus 7 inspired cars. A westfield is deff worth the 1700 quid, that is very very cheap.

surley the hit ur gna take on selling the engine is not worth it, as your never gna get back what u spent.
so keep the engine and just shift on the fiesta and replace it with the westy body. I think this way the sums would work out in ur favour.
OR
if u are one of those non cool guys who says when asked what u drive and u answer "a ZETEC" then you dont deserve the westy anyway

Exactly, they sound amazing, the gearbox is awesome too being a sequential 6 speed or whatever, and at first it fools you into thinking its quick, then when you actually go up against something with a decent car engine, you realise its just all noise and no go, espeically once you are moving along at 100mph already and want to accelerate.

When u say zetec i assume u mean engine and not the fiesta its self?

bike engined ones might not be MEGA stupidly fast, but a friend of mine bought a pinto'd westfield, and he converted it to a blade engine'd one for under 400 quid. which is very cost effective IMO especially if you blow up a blade motor you can get a whole engine for 100 quid, sequential style box with it still being on a bike gear linkage.
and as said, the noise is 2nd to none.

but compred to a LET or YB, the bike engines are pathetic, unless the bike engine is also turbo'd of course!

If you got for the westy, as stu said make sure its got westfield on the logbook and the numbers match. Even with a poorly CVH the westy will run rings round the Fiesta, I'd get it and sling another healthy cvh in it and thrash it. Turbo'd 7's aren't all they're cracked up to be, mine scares the living shit out of me in anything other than a dry hot day. If its going to be your only car and you've never owned a 7 before, don't bother.
