Thats a bargain for a westy even if its a total shed.

Rip that shitty engine out and get a LET into it

I cant see the fuss about bike engines TBH

N/A most of them dont even make 100lbft of torque and your lucky to see over 150bhp

For the sake of 30KG extra or whatever, id much sooner have 300bhp and 300lbft from a LET!

So just generally better all round

Similar inital cost for both engines then.

So it just leaves you with something:
bigger
heavier
with worse power delivery
more expensive replacement parts

oh, and the exhaust on the drivers side where you dont want it

Obviously never seen or been in a bike engined Westy, 1300cc susuki (sp?). One of the fastest car round track.

how does anyone else know what i would want?

i personally would love a big power cossie westfield, i wouldnt give a shit if its more expensive, or harder to make, im sure id manage

a friend of mine produces/designs kit cars from scratch, we reckon 4x4 would be an option, with some work

seen loads, they were all slow... lol

thing about motorbikes is theyre very very light....

cars aren't

for a bike engined car to be any good it needs

1) proper powerful bike engine, ie hyabusa etc.
2) hardly any weight, ie carbon everything , proper stripped etc.

both of which cost a lot of money and wont be very much better than the the car engined car

Guy I used to work with had a Westfield Sei8. bloody great Rover V8 in the thing. Noisy as hell, and like most Westies full of Cortina and Granada parts from the early 80s. No windscreen so he had to wear sunglasses or a crash helmet and a roof that he couldnt use as he couldnt get in easily with it on!

Thing I always thnk is that the original Lotus 7 design was sold to Caterham. Westfields are fake Caterhams for fat people who cant fit in a Caterham (which incidentally hold their value better) You also have to hate Caterham and Locost (and god knows who else) owners. As it seems to be ridiculously tribal! To the point that Westfield owners wont stop to help a broken down Caterham (and vice versa!)

If I wanted something fast and light for a weekend toy it would have Yamaha written down the side of it. And I dont mean a Piano

I say stick with your project for now. Westies haevnt hit the bottom of the market yet so once you;ve finished your car (and it will bug you if you dont) then look at values for a finished car which has adeecnt engine in it to start with. Im sure with the current financials you'll have the pick of some nice stuff in the new year.

If thats a genuine road registered Westfield and not been accident damaged or got some dodgy history, its mega mega cheap. Actually, even if it was a cheaper copy its still very cheap IMO.

BUY IT FOR THAT MONEY.

Jim - You pussy

Jtech - Westfield dont do a 4x4 model (Dax do)

Has it not crossed your mind to put the ZETEC TURBO in the westy?

just sell the fez with a cheap chv in it or even as an engineless car.

that way you dont looes out on the money you have spent on the engine.

Id dare say the westy would be worth more, or at least more sellable than the fez.

Sounds like it'd be worth getting a loan from parents etc and buying it to sell on, personally i'd be waving goodbye to the fiesta and hello to the Westy

for £1500 i wouldnt even be worried; even if you dont want it; you could sell it on for double that i expect

surely someone could lend you £1500? credit card? small bank loan?

sometimes you just have to buy these things just to sell on for a profit

personally; id get shot of the fez and keep the westy

Iam not sure if its very you mate, and if you sold your Fiesta, bought the Westy and then decided this you would be be back at square one (admittidly with more money).

But you dont want to go in circles like Bamo!

Quick Reply: WESTFIELD deal what should i do????
