Plumbers help - gas leak???
I was worried that I seemed to be using a lot more gas than I expected. SO last night at 9pm I had 19.57 credit on my machine, and this morning I have 19.18, even though I haven't used any gas appliances or heating. Is that suggesting a leak, or does the pilot light use a small amount.
30p over 12 hours doesnt seem a lot, but if its a leak, I would prefer to get it fixed

I know that the gas meters that give you a reading do use alot of gas, and as you can see it counting down it brings you attention to it even more.
Can you smell gas or is it only because of what you have seen at the meter????

payment meters charge you a standing charge every day also. My advice if worried at all is to call transco and tell them you think you smell gas at the gas meter and they will do a tightness test on the gas carcus and will be able to tell you if you have a leak or not and its FREE to get transco out.
I would also get rid of the payment meter as they are a rip off and get a normal E6 meter fitted and get a quaterly bill and you will save money.

I would go back to the other meter no problems. Only had this meter fitted a few weeks. I've lived here almost 4 years and I was with Scottish Gas, and they wouldn;t take any money from me. Kept telling me I didnt owe anything. Thena after nearly 4 years sent me through a huge bill. I've got the payment meter to pay them what I owe them very slowly, rather than in a lump sum

Ok I've been thinking about it a bit more. What its used in 12hours equates to £4.20 a week. Theres no way I should be using tht amount to keep the pilot light lit. So Transco will be my first call Monday morning, and then a plumber if thats no good
