Default FWD Diff knocking.

It's a plated diff, knocks when turning, can actually hear it and feel it through steering wheel!?


Whats the problem?!

I thought plated diff's do make noises and do feel clunky anyway? Although I do know they need fairly regular oil changes and the plates can wear, perhaps thats an issue....

I don't know if they do, Hence the question. Cheers though, It just seems a bit to bad than what it should be..

Maybe an oil change is in need.

Radders - probably normal mate - my clio feels terrible on full lock in one particular direction cos of my plated diff - makes up for it on track though! lol

I don't personally, Its not my car! Its my friends. He seems to think it is, everything else has been checked and its just been through an MOT plus its only just got back on the road. He did have a problem before, but he changed the oil and it cured it. But its been 2 years off the road, and now its back on, everything is getting checked! Its the same problem as before, which was the diff. Its fine in normal driving, just tight turns and parking it knocks like a bitch lol.

I wouldnt say its a problem tbh mate - is it quite juddery as well?

Id have thought its more liekly to be a shagged CV joint, they do this badly on parking etc when theyre gone!
