Why do women name cars?

Just reading the post with Maria naming her car and my missus does the same.

My last Audi was called Alfie and she calls the new one Archie, she's even named the Golf we haven't got yet George

Desert storm etc, what WERE you thinking?

Weird thing was, it generally did kind of seem to make sense back in the day when I heard them referred to in that way

All my cars have been called 'The Shitter'

I dont even suffix them with Roman Numerals... they're all just called the same thing.
My wife named the Moggy 'Wilbur' because the M logos on the hubcaps were upside down one day so she thought they were Ws.
How do they get through each day...

I don't understand it either. My mate has named his car for some reason. I think it's totally gay and stupid the whole naming thing. Is it cool to give cars names? I don't get it

I've always named my cars..... my Punto was called the hedgehog, my cavalier was the Cavalier of Doom or Chavvy for short and my Fiesta is called Fanita but Fanny for short.
It's not just cars though, I name lots of stuff!

my MG Maestro was called Moggy
and my Peugeot Boxer motorhome was called Polly
my Freelander was called 'fuck me - er how much depreciation in 2 years??'
and my current car doesn't have a name after 5 years!

Yeah it's a girl thing i think to personalise things and make them all fluffy and cwute! And they cost as much as bloody children so why not do the whole christening thing too!

Maybe by personalising them they think they'll listen to what they say and be more reliable?

My first car was affectionately known as 'Blue Ice', and my second was 'White Lightning'. Then I grew up.

My missus named hers vicky as the last 3 letters of the numberplate are VEK, although it 'wobbles' round corners - can't work that one out.
