Sorry for stupid questions as I know very little about these things... So with the engine that was tested, would it see any substantial power gains using a GT3071 turbo?

I'm lost, again. How come flatout is the easiest, surely that's when you are in the danger zone?

Benni, getting peak figures really is the easy bit of mapping a car.

Although i should imagine being a fairly clever chap that Martin will have picked up mapping fairly quickly as it isn't rocket science.

EDIT: Beaten to my answer twice by fast fingers Chip. Doh.

No power loss and potential for more.

Based on the spec I mentioned, it would spool sooner and make over 400bhp without overspooling the turbo, so essentially you gain at both ends of the rev range, more so at the top end though.

Agreed, the rollers tell you how to do that bit, its getting it to drive right that requires more input, although that said on a T34 for a YB, there are so many good maps out there to base it on for most ECU's that shouldnt be hard either

True. So much base data out there for a T34 engine. No need to start from scratch, just optimise.

Even i have a few maps for t34 engines on L6 saved on my puter.

I think that for most people to consider it "owning" though, you need to prove someone wrong when they were claiming to be right, not just provide the extra clarification they asked for as they said in the first place they werent sure

just to clarify why the thread was edited

2a. Victimisation/Abuse of individuals and arguing.
This includes publishing, distributing, circulating or otherwise propagating any material, which may be deemed abusive, offensive, anti-social, racist, sexist, distressing, harmful, cause anxiety, be of a threatening nature or be it of a general nuisance. Furthermore, any messages found to insult, discredit or bring disrepute to a moderator or moderators will be removed and the poster banned at the moderators discretion. Victimising, citing and/or hateful posts, as well as any private retaliation against a single member or a group of members is strictly prohibited. Messages found to contain private or personal information will also be removed / censored at the sole discretion of a Moderator.

All off topic postings that will by their very content move the subject away from the topic starters intended subject will be deleted without warning and the poster banned should he continue to re-offend. This rule will be enforced very strongly on topics of a technical nature.

Should an argument breakout that we feel can be left on PassionFord, the topic will normally be moved to our "Dummy spitting" forum so as not to disturb the harmony of the main rooms but there may be exceptions. Be aware that when an argument breaks out in a forum it is standard procedure for us to remove all members rights to edit their own posts within that forum for up to 48hours or until such time as a web team member has investigated the complaint. This is so that any illegal material, defamatory comments, insulting personal or racist abuse that is against PF regulations cannot be secretly deleted by the author when they get wind of a complaint to the web team being lodged. This rule is to protect the membership as a whole from abuse going undealt with and also the PassionFord administration from prosecution.
