[quote=Lambchop;3711746]firstly, fuck me if someone says t34 escos you HAVE to presume 4x4 as they were built like that. To assume otherwise would be silly and i'm sure Martin would've said had it been different

Been there, lost the blades, bent the shaft smashed the housing etc etc.

7 o'clock on the morning of TOTB, had to change the turbo at the side of the M18 and remap on the way to TOTB

nothing to do this this thread in a way !but would you notice any difference jumping from a T34.55 to one with a .63?with the correct set up for the .63 of course!

cool jay i thought the boost would be abit later but was not sure if you would feel it higher up the revs range!as tbh i did not notice much difference from my .48 to the .55!would air injector not help bring a .63 on boost alot quicker by helping get rid of any surge etc?

only time ive seen surge on a .63 is when over 30psi on 2wd inlet

on the early boost thing cam timing is the essence of it imo to get the turbo to spool quicker

You'd be less likely to get surge with the 0.63 housing anyway. You could add some boost control to gain a little lower down, but could do the same to the 0.55 also.

i can nver understand why someone would want to keep killing a t34 when they can change to a gt30 with no bad effects

I'm on a .5 bore on a 205 block, and concerned the extra power of the GT30 would kill it.

Plus I love the chatter on the t34 with no dump valve and would lose that with the GT.

i dont think ur engine would be a issue and i would rather have better response and a smoother better topend and put up with a chav valve if you see what i mean lol

i know,i know jay but i do around 1k a year in mine if i am lucky and say 400 miles of that will be driven hard!my turbo has done around 500 miles max!and is just over a year old!so its going to last a few years i would expect (hope/prey!)compare that to a cost of a GT30 turbo they have got to be around Ł1200 odd !plus with a GT30 it woud be surge city on standard cams and standard c/r

I guess it's price for most people, but ye once 1 goes you'd be stupid not to change.

Jay, are you using the N95 valve?

I recently got a GT30 I sourced for someone who now doesnt need it, .63 backend, 4" front with surge porting, comes with V band adapted outlet, complete with the v band itself and the bit to weld onto the downpipe, and with the actuator etc, 850 quid it owes him so thats all he wants for it.
So they really arent as dear as a lot of people think they are.

Totally perfect for about 420-430 bhp on a cossie and will do 400 SO much more comfortably than a T34 will, and it spools quicker.

People pay about 700 normally for a new T34 IME!

trust me I know! as I just bought one!

you can get them alot cheaper with .48 and .55 housings though...

but a genuine new one is over a grand.

Well considering i cant find anyone else on here who has just done what i have then there must be a lot of people still doing it, or they are keeping very quiet about using a standard ported head.
