Blu ray, LCD TV
To be honest im not really upto date with the latest TV's and DVD's. I love films and was wondering if its worth splashing out some money on a Blu-Ray DVD player and an LCD TV. Thing is.....is there a noticeable difference with Blu-Ray compared to noraml DVD's and are LCD TV's better picture quality too?

There will be a difference with the Blue-Ray as long as you use a suitable Display. You will need to run both at 1080p resolution to get the best picture quality. But you should take a look for yourself first before investing the money as many people are more than happy using 1080i which is the lower spec, but will be cheaper than the Blue-ray set up!
Hope this helps without getting too technical!

Some Blu Ray movies offer an upgrade over std and some a vast upgrade in quality even over an upscaled DVD movie, but some you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. Go to highdef digest website for a review on the blu ray movies available.
To get the best from Blu Ray, you need to have a good audio/video setup as the new sound format is not supported by a lot of Surround sound units out there and then there is the 1080p TV that needs to have 24fps or the Blu Rays judder.
I am not buying a Blu Ray player for two reasons, one I think it will fail as there is not the leap that VHS to DVD had, and secondly the discs are still stupidly expensive. I think HD downloads will take over from DVD in a few years to be honest. Now if there was a Blu Ray player at Ł99 and discs the same price as DVD equivs then I may purchase.

i got my self a plasma 42" a few months ago and love it,but then felt i was missing something, so i got myself an LG cinema kit with 5.1 surround sound which upscales normal dvd to 1080p, although i havent tried bluray im guessing its better than i have now,but this LG home cinema kit is great.
