Default Do LCD screens wear out?

I know a CRT monitor can burn in an image, what about the LCD on the laptop? Should I switch it off?

The backlight tubes wear out quicker than the screen !!!

They do not suffer from the same burn in as CRT tubes do.

However, they do NOT like direct sunlight.

LCD is an organic material and the UV in sunlight will age it quickly !

Thanks mate, I'll stick to switching the screen off then.

Only trouble is it seems to kick the computer off the WiFi as well I'll sort something out...
