From up here(Hellsinki, Finland)the discussion looks ridiculous, You dont know, what cold is, just use antifreeze called booze. Hypothermia starts after pee freezes in the air while peeing

is it not common knowledge that the celsius scale is based on the temperature at which water changes state? i thought that was taught in primary school science?

Nick, I thought it was common kowledge that even temps over 0 can kill if sustained long enough.... so this whole thread is a bit shocking.

To the Finnish guy:

Yes you're right, most Brits don't know what proper cold means (-20 and below for me), but other then that britan feels VERY cold even if it's not, maybe because of the climate, and these guys carry on in t-shirts only in sub 10 degrees, especially Northerners, and have cold homes...
I heard about a Russian professor who used to teach in Oxford and he used to say that back when he was in the army he worked outside in -60 degrees, but stll he thinks nowhere is it as cold as in english home

Granted I may not be blessed with intelligence but at least I can make a picture fun. I think your comments are a bit harsh to be honest especially as we're in a discussion forum so anything goes (or so I thought) chill out and wind your neck in mate......... I've got a scarf that would fit you just right

It's Nick. He's a right miserable old bastard. I thought all of the mistakes in his sentances were taught in primary school too. So don't come it the clever man when your not so smart yourself, Nick.

Benni.

An average person will survive no problems. Your body will wake you during the mild/moderate stages of hypothermia especially as your shivering becomes violent Then the average muppet would get up and walk round to warm up again!

The problem comes with excessive alcohol consumption which means it is possible the body may cool quicker and due to alcohol you may not wake up when a sober person would, meaning you may well stay asleep right until you slip unconcious and eventually die!!!

you're - the shortening of 'you are'
your - belonging to you
