It is 14 days if the car is currently taxed. Which obviously yours isn't.

For a concrete answer give DVLA a call on 0870 240 0010. They are open until 8:30pm.

from 1st of the month for new tax . from the 15th of the previous month if its a renewal iirc.
if you buy tax before you pick up the car it will start from the first of this month. how about getting the old owner to tax it before you pick it up and you pay?

Google really is your friend

If you want the tax disc to start on the first day of the next calendar month, you cannot tax your vehicle more than two days in advance.
