Default Are BMW having a laugh?

I need an ignition barrel fitting and i thought id ask them how much to fit one as im told its a piece of piss, and they want £125 quid JUST for the time to fit he says

Thats correct mate im afraid , the e36 models the barrel spins inside the colum

yeah i know carlo, i can get the part for £30, but i was told its a 15-30min job and its really easy, yet there charging £125 just for fitting

Just depends on how easy it comes out you can make a arse of it & end up drilling out.
Most bmw dealerships charge £90 - £100 + vat a hour

The main prob is ppl trying it themselfs then realising they cant do it.The book time for the repair isnt much but it never goes to plan the boys in here hate doing it

I remmember my mate fitting one to a compac bmw a few years ago that ended up being a cunt of a job and drilling it out in the end........ dont think he will do another in a hurry put it that way

I had to go to a BMW dealer to get the tracking done on my E36 330d.....cost me £160 as they are the only ones that have a certain tool......

common problem, but when you put key in you keep pushing in while turning it will allways work, also helps to take the slack of the steering lock, mine used to do it once your used to it it never spins

I thought its like once its "gone" its gone kinda thing, and leaves you stranded? but you reckon it will STILL work? mine works fine most the time, just the odd occasion where it will spin a few times
