Default 16" Wheels & 330mm Discs

Do 16" comp take 330m discs?

If so does anyone have the internal measurement of the wheel for comparison against my 16" wheel.

Cheers

Don't think they do ryan, thought you could bearly get 330's behind 17's

Maybe more space cos they are comps but i'm not 100%

I have 300's behind my 16's and they are a squeeze

Plus if the wheels was 16" that would be 400mm so thats 70mm for rim and caliper space, it's fucking close whatever!!

yeah think it may be overkil, but unsure if these calipers will go down to 305mm, as they were designed for 330'. but maybe just a pad change will sort it, if not i might have to sell them on.

I ran 16"s on my last track S2, both compomotive TH2 and Superleggera. The 315mm AP 4 pot kit was close against the OZ's but there was a good 10mm clearance on the Comps.

All im saying is each compomotive wheel wheteher 14-15-16-17 is different between the dismensions.

My cxs wheels in 15" offer more clearence than a 15" MO

Best way will be to fit your wheel on a car with the size brakes you want.

Anyway why you want 16's ,15s is the way forward!!!

Ryan,
I have no idea what inside dimensions the 16 Comp Mo wheel is, but I can assure you, you can fit 330s and AP 4-pots (calliper dependent), as I know of several who have done it.

cheers mike, thats what i wanted to know, im pretty sure i will be able to squeeze 330's under there, as they run 305mm as standard under them.

luke, 15's will be an option if i decide to run smaller brakes, but there arent that many wheels i like in 15's that suit my car.

16x8's go on nicely though with some KW V3's

yes mk1 golf max, and no i havent really.

GTI non sunroof.

will be running seat sport engine and 6 speed box with peloguin diff. (about 280hp in current guise) cant be arsed with more than that, as thats a standard drop in package, that works and works well, could obviously go well over 300, but that in a 850kg will be just silly.

Ryan - did you know you can turbo a standard VR6 engine, run a decomp plate, whack a GT3076 turbo on it (at the very least), get a piggy back chip on STANDARD management & different injectors and easily run a reliable 400/400!!!

yes lee i did mate, seen quite a few done on the forums and was very suprised.

also whats more suprising is the vr6 engine goes for like £300 second hand.

400/400 engine for about 1.5k

think it would make the mk1 very front end heavy though.

Yes and no they won't.

Even 304mm with big callipers won't fit.

310mm discs and standard callipers is the limit of the standard wheels (on a 4x4 car, you may get bigger on a 2wd).

Here's 330s under a 16" MO on a Sunny Gtir. I think he had to use a 3mm spacer.

not a definative answer there because of the calipers your using,ie not motorsport ones, with the correct caliper a 330mm ap set up will fit under 16's,355's will fit under 17".
