Yeah but this is gonna be me daily runner!! Just felt a bit flat, swift but would like a bit more!

I got the fester started today just to move it to my mates house. Even with a blown headgasket, slippin clutch and droppin on three it was rapid and torque steered me all over the shop!! Fookin luv it! Cant wait to drop the new lump in. Spoiled me a bit!.

ask galbally how similar the engine is mate, I dont know if its the duratec one or the old essex/cosworth effort?

If its the latter theres some exhaust/crank recirculation thing you can blank off for a few more horses? I think anyway, read it somewhere

A few mods you can do but wont gain much, you can fit the ST200 upper intake as this was extrude honed which is smother and larger slightly. and depending on year the lower intakes aswell, later models had larger lower intakes same as ST200 so may already be fitted. also ST200/SVT throttle body will fit with larger inlet pipe and you can get a larger airflow meter too. Its also fitted with 3 cats, 1 in each downpipe and a main cat under the car, you can get your downpipes decatted for a little extra power.
All this will be good for around 185-190 bhp, not quite the 200 for the ST200 as that is also fitted with different cams and ECU which have heard people fitting too.
You could always fit NOS or supercharger conversions are common if you want that little extra
TT conversion would be nice but no room i'm afraid, the engine fills the bonnet as it is!

BTW engine is Duratec with poxy chains and a plastic waterpump that can fail without notice and probably scrap your engine in the procces

You can replace the standard waterpump with one with metal impellor blades, although these are not manufactured by Ford - I got one in a group buy on www.fordmondeo.org

Yep that water pump impellor breaking up is a common problem with the ST's mate!

Worth changing it before it goes

Front bank of cylinders, on the back of the cylinder head (r/hand side as you see it near battery) is a single pulley that drops down to the water pump, not too difficult to get to. tend to get a little water seepage out of the pulley on times like mine did but it never went, heard of loads of other going though and as the heads tend to run hot it dont take long to over heat and cook the thing which is expensive. best few quid you could spend if you can find a metal impellor pump.

Just got it home. Very smooth easy drive. Swift but not fast. Can tootle in 5th at 30 tho. No listening for shit blowing up or knockin, straight over speed bumps, dont have to watch the temp gauge. Really pleased, there nice motors jus could do with a bit more agressive power. Standard suspension a bit wallowy (sp?) tho.
