Default mondeo hot start problem

got 05 mondeo with problem starting when hot, turns over for ages before firing up, its fine when cold,????

does't show any problem on computer,,i know that doesn't always mean they are ok

I know the petrol's do have a problem where due to the egr valve pumping exhaust gases into the inlet, when you restart it soon after switching off it takes a while for the exhaust gases to clear before it gets some fresh air to start on.

It happened all the time on my old mk3 petrol. Usesdto be able to clear it by holding the throttle pedal open for a few seconds before starting to get some fresh air in there. Unsure weather it affects the diesels though!

i would say camshaft position sensors playing up.check what colour is it,older types were black,newer ones are grey.its located just off centre to the right of the head as you look at engine above the inlet manifold

think this could be it, will do compression check when hot and cold,

had valve clearance problem on a diesel 306 years ago
