Default running a engine in

i am getting my rebuilt t16 turbo rover engine running monday its been rebuilt with m series turbo pistons and rods these are good 4 just over 300 bhp its as had new bearings and rings i have been told to drive 50 miles on cheap oil then change to some dear stuff and turn the boost up and drive it hardish whats your thoughts

I'd do 100 miles on cheapo mineral oil, then a few hunderd more on fully synth staging in how much throttle you use until 500 miles of so when I'd be giving it full beans.

any engine ive had needing run in usually gets a few minutes to warm up at 2-3k rpm driving then driven hard as normal........so far its worked.

after i fit an engine i leave it running while i wash my hands then its ready for a good beating

opinions differ about running in; but def use minerial oil to begin with - personally dont tickle the engine; give it some beans; some say dont let the turbo fully boost but i'm of the opinion you need to give it some

thanks to all that repiled thats what i was told bed the rings in before the bores glaze up and a bit off boost helps push the rings against the bores i am running a gt28rs roller bearing turbo
