Chatter is compressor stall or surge, not the wastegate fluttering about. as you shut the throttle the turbo is still spinning and the air has nowhere to go. Not good for a turbo. Its loads worse if its heard on boost though

Carlo am i correct in thinking you've got Euans old engine now? Did it/does it have a D/V in its current guise?

For me personally, id get a re-circ and since you will no doubt go for a GT28/GT30 (according to Stoo) i'd see no harm in it.

Thats what a meant in a roundabout way lol its got to chatter before dumping

Im not running one justnow but will hopefully be running 2 bar + soon so going to look into getting a hose to refit the Bailey valve i use to run.

So is the opinion that if your running a gt30 or larger garret turbo and lots of boost you need a dump valve? Does anybody not run one, and has anybody had a turbo failure?

eitherway I love the sound it makes, and if I go big power, then I will sort it and get it dumpung correclty, but at the moment, i love scaring walkers and jap drivers

I have euans old engine with t34/63 at the min i will change it prob for a gt30 depending on getting the car mapped.i didnt buy euans dump valve i bought a forge one from woodford garage

Its fitted mate car isnt finnished yet tho shouldnt be long i will see how it goes i like the chatter too much but a bit of both would be nice & if its doing a job in the process that would be great

dump valves ? i no likey !! but a coz had them from a kickoff so shouldn't cause any running problems which would be my main concern.i am only running 20psi and to be honest you don't really hear the d/valve.just LOADS of chatter.tried a bailey item,its not for me.mine made a right weird noise like unplugging your air hose off a compressor,so back to the collins one with a new diaphragm.it just sounds like there is a turkey under the bonnet but so far i haven't found it,just the one in the drivers seat !!
