Default Dump valve on cossies discuss

I have had 3 cossies & never had dump valves as i like the wastegate chatter best noise ever IMHO..
But im on my 4th cossie now & trying to buy all the right bits to make it a bit more decent running wise & bought a grpA forge dump valve from woodford not for noise just for its purpose!
1. Are forge grpA any good
2.What do you reccomend?
3.The bailey recirc dump valve i could get one of them & buy a new boost pipe for the other side going into the turbo. But how do they sound i hate the little dull noise from the bailey ones will i still hear the wastegate chatter with the recirc?

If you're not running 30psi of boost a T4 or GT series turbo you don't need one is my understanding. From memory there are even arguements that a dv can cause the turbo to overspeed.

I have never seen or even heard of a turbo snapping its shaft as a result of not having a DV. I would be thinking there was an underlying problem

i had a le mans one on mine and it was fucking loud a loud at 30psi - you also got to hear the chatter first then the whoosh - i used to play games on the motorway by letting it build up boost and then slowly letting my foot off the gas to see how long I could hear the air seeping out of the dumpvalve - well its certainly makes a long boring journey a bit more interesting - or you could build up boost and let off right next to someone to see their reaction when they shit themselves

T series turbos are a lot stronger than GT on the whole.. anything below a T4 will generall survive without a dump valve.. I wouldn't run any GT without a recirc valve..

One of your hated Bailey ones, it is different to every other bailey i have heard so it must have a really strong spring [or whatever they have] installed. That was running 2bar+ on a T4.

Every dump valve I've ever owned thats not been a factory fit item has leaked like fuck. If it's OE then keep it. If it's aftermarket them ditch it. Unless you're running 2 bar on a T4 or something....

I took off my leaking dv a couple days after buying the car, snapped the turbine wheel right off on the drive back from work.

not particulary impressed.

are we off the opinion that less than 30psi and its safe to let it chatter?

Beacuse people fit those fake ones to their Saxos and what not... It sounds like a bus anyways.

this is mine, baily twin piston fitted to a big turbo conversion (on small turbo engine) peaking at 1.2 and holding 1 bar.

I can lube the dump valve up and loose the chatter, but I love the chatter

i loathe the noise of dump valves but since bolting on my gt30 i have to use one. Much to my surprise the bailey piston one i bought, isnt anywhere as offensive as i thought it would be. Which is good.

Hows this fella? it chatters from the filter first then dumps from the valve chatter is the wastegate opening if am not mistaking? which needs to happen for boost pressure to be released to the dump valve or am a wrong in saying that?

Just read the first question!

has anyone corrected the "wastegate chatter" comment?
