Sapph 4x4 and Escort are a shallow offset disc bell and single pot calipers.
The RS500,3dr and 2wd Sapph have a deeper offset disc bell and 4 pot calipers.

All 2wd cars run inc RS500......
283mm front discs (vented) with 4 pot calipers
273mm rear discs (solid) with single pot caliper
4wd cars run.....
278mm Front discs (vented) with single pot caliper
273mm rear discs (vented) with single pot caliper

Different hubs on the 4x4 which caused less space for the deeper discs and 4 pots...
