It may not need a lot mate. You wont know the extent till you strip it back. But around that area needs to be spot on obviously!

Get the list up so I can get first dibs on stuff now

Seriously though, yeah cut out whats required and weld in new. At least the repair can easily be hidden there.

i know it cant be seen wel from pics, think il get the header tank out and take the wheels and stru off during the winter and sand it back see how bad it really is

as a whole for 21y old its not that bad,its not seen a spray booth in over 10years and sat in a driveway unused for 5years i cant complain

Strip that back and shot blast it mate, you may be suprised. Might just be how the pic looks but it just looks like the sealer has cracked with age and held water. You may find it looks worse than it is.

hi there, have not long ago cut the turret out of my 4wd saph as the header tank hole had gone rusty.
i did think of putting a plate over the top, but i removed the turret instead and glad i did, as the rust had got between the panels.
covering it up will only hide it for a while maybe months, hope this helps

double skinned round there, grind it back and see the extent,as above not difficult to repair for anyone with decent welding skills

you only need to remove the spot welds and the turret comes out a treat, clean it up and replace then its as good as new, would not advise a quick cover up.
