so it will have only had auto arm on the immobilisor then. Was it a busy car park??? unless the alarm has major weakness's then it would have taken them a while plus upping the bonnet to rip off the sounder is hardly subtle.

Usually fair car parks are quite busy.

u park in a field at drayton manor if i remember rite.
but even if an alarm did go off,how many people wud think its being nicked.most people wud prob fink its just 2 sensitive, or it has a problem and the owner has lifted the bonnet 2 sort it out but it may not be the owner, could be the thief lifting the bonnet!!

yeah if you see someone under the bonnet of a car with the alarm going off not many people would run over and go "OI you arsehole, get your dirty mitts off that car you thieving cunt" unfortunatly, however what on earth was she thinking leaving it in the middle of a field without the alarm on plus must have been a standard alarm because with aftermarket alarms you cant lock it without arming

my point is tho surely a scoobie would have a transponder chip immobiliser so it can not be started with out the key???

Early classics and imports didn't have immobilisers from the factory and the imports don't even come with an alarm as standard Shocking really but there must be little car crime in Japan.

Glad to hear it, hope it's not too bad.
Pity about some of the comments above, maybe if they ever get their car nicked they'll see it differently.

It's just so bad these days, I wouldn't even dream of a car without a tracker(or two!!), even my L reg astra merit 1.4 auto has a cat1 alarm/immobiliser.
Would be interesting what the insurers make of a non functioning alarm, still sad to see if nicked, but just so important to do everything you can these days, std immobilisers can be got round easy.

simpliest and more effective than any immoiblizer is to fit a switch to the fuel pump or such, and hide it in the car
