Removing snapped bleed nipples
Anyone ever found a method that works?
Bought some metro 4 pots for the mini and just stripped them down to paint them, thought i best check the bleed nipples and one of the 3 (yes three!! ) snapped on me! damn thing was seized solid, wouldn't turn either way then all of a sudden it moved slightly, i thought my luck was in, then i punched the vice

if you can get easy outs in them then i suggest heating the nipple up before even attempting to try and undo itfailing that you may be able (if you have a lathe) drill the nipple out just leaving the thread then un real the thread thats left in the caliper if that make sense?

Use propper Snap On short Easy outs, not the long ones (that always snap!)
Drill with the correct size for that easy out (marked on the side) and use a LH twist Cobalt drill bit

If you have a welder mate the easiest way i find is to weld a washer onto the broken part of the nipple then weld a nut to the washer, heat around the nipple and almost every time it will unscrew out.
If the nipple is broken flush or down inside the caliper it makes it a bit more tricky as you have to build up with weld before you can get a washer welded on.

Update: tried heating it and an easy out but no joy
measured up the thread of the bleed nipple to try and drill it out and use a blind tap to clean the threads but it looks like it is M7 X 1.0
Dont fancy my chances with a welder, i can weld, but not that accuratly!!

As chop said, be careful, almost buggered my brembos doing all of the above and none worked, i put it to a machine shop to get it out, i tried so many different things that I had to get new threads tapped as the thread got damaged in the process of me messing around with it.

got the bastards out at last, tried everything with no success, stuck a 15/64 (i think) drill bit through them and went to the local nuts and bolts place to get an M7 x 1.0 bottom tap, guess the list price...
£45! bloke helped us out though as i've had a fair bit off them recently, bought 1000 and returned 999 straight away so the price dropped to £10!
now i have another problem, the damn pistons are seized solid, right the way in so nothing to get hold of to pull them out, made up an adapter and stuck 100psi air behind them but they wouldn't budge gonna try putting the caliper in boiling water and more air in a min.
Any ideas on that one?
